Pair This With Your Fruity Pebbles

Strawberry Milk Punch

Milk punch is an iconic drink in New Orleans and throughout much of the south. It is most often made with Brandy or bourbon, sometimes an addition of rum and vanilla, and garnished with nutmeg. It's a festive holiday drink, and makes a great eye-opener in the morning. My version has strawberries, both to celebrate Spring and to accompany the Fruity Pebble moment that's been happening in food. The cereal is showing up in baked goods, ice-creams, flavored milk and who knows what else. If you want to get really crazy, you could steep some Fruity Pebbles in milk, eliminate the strawberries from the recipe, and use the flavored milk. Fruity Pebble Milk Punch. Do it. You know you want to. Strawberry Milk Punch 2 ounces bourbon 1 ounce rum 2 ounces simple syrup 4 ounces milk 4 strawberries, hulled Place bourbon, rum and simple syrup in an ice filled shaker. Blend strawberries with milk in the blender until frothy. Add to shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with a sprinkle of strawberry sugar, if desired.

This sounds great! The best Brandy Milk Punch in New Orleans is served at Mandina's Restaurant on Canal St.
